Born For This

Chris Guillebeau is someone who I’ve looked up to for some time. Back when I was first starting to think about starting a business, I bought his first book The $100 Startup. As someone new into the business world, I admired how he designed his career and his life. He was doing exactly what I wanted to be doing – traveling the world, helping people reach their big goals in life, and making a good income. His content has always been solid so I naturally picked up this latest book.

The Cold Shower Challenge

Back in 2015, I decided to take part in a cold shower challenge. If you aren’t familiar with the challenge, it’s pretty straight forward. Only take cold showers for 30 days straight.

During the challenge, I shot this video to provide my insights and take-a-ways.

Today I take about 6-10 cold showers per week. It’s now part of my habit, and most people think I’m crazy…but it’s awesome. I feel so much more alive and it reminds me that if I can take a freezing cold shower (especially in the winter) than I can do anything.

The Science of Getting Rich

Science of Getting RichWritten in 1910, this book is still on the shelves today. Outlining the principles of wealth, The Science of Getting Rich, is based upon doing things a certain way. Rather than the philosophy that you need to come from a particular background, or you have the have a specific education – getting rich is about the way you act, not about your circumstances. For millennials, this is a really helpful book to start changing the way we look at the world of wealth.

For example:
As the most educated generation, we continually are seeking out knowledge to further our abilities and success in life. Unfortunately, we all too often focus on the education as the end game and not the application. In this book it discusses that it doesn’t matter your education, it only matters what you do with it. In fact, it doesn’t even matter if you have an education at all. It only matters if you are doing things “a certain way.”

If we want to start attracting wealth into our lives, and careers, we must start acting “a certain way.” This book, divided into 17 short, straight-to-the-point chapters will explain how to overcome mental barriers, and how creation, not competition, is the hidden key to wealth attraction. A must read for anyone early on in their careers.

Start With Why

Start With Why

Start With Why is about a way of thinking, acting, & communicating that gives leaders the ability to inspire those around them. When you are able to inspire, whether at work or in your personal life, you become so much more valuable. And when you become valuable, you will ultimately build lasting success.

If you are early in your career, you have to start understanding that people don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it. If you can convey they WHY – the rest won’t matter. Great read, very engaging, and easily one of the top books to reference for leadership and inspiration.

If you’re walking down the right path and you’re willing to keep walking, eventually you’ll make progress.

Darren Daily – Leadership & Success Tips

Darren Daily

Darren DailyHaving a solid morning routine is crucial to getting your day started on the right foot. Part of that routine must include some sort of mental stimuli. Just like you brush your teeth every morning to prevent cavities – the same exercise can be applied to your brain to strengthen it.

One of my favorite resources for a mental “warm-up” is from the editor and chief of Success Magazine, Darren Hardy. He produces quick leadership tips that are delivered directly to your inbox every morning during the week. Each daily message is less than 3 minutes, so it is an easy addition to any morning routine.
